Is this normal?

What we need on here is a defined scale of how much gentle humour a member is able to take.

That way tears can be avoided and those who hark back to times when it was more fun or sparkier can be asked to put their ego where their mouth is.

It'll start at 1 for 'never grew up' to 10 for 'come ahead then'.
The detail can be sorted out by the editorials and 'moderators'.

I preferred it when the ads were on.I even bought a couple of nice tops off one of the ads.

I'm not experiencing similar problems. The request pops up here and there, but not frequently enough to irritate.

nor me. i'm using edge and a VPN, but also use chrome (no vpn)

I see the pop-up every now & then, though I've no idea of the precise frequency.
