Not wishing to be disrespectful to HM but are we going to get any other news any time soon? With the energy crisis and Ukraine it would be good to know what is going on other than the rehashed films of HM and the repeated interviews with people who once passed her in a corridor.

I think the Russians will turn back when either the army runs away. it has done so before ( Lenin: the Russian Army has voted with its feet) OR is driven out

MPs have just come back from a 7 week break
Now they are taking 2 full days to debate the Queen
Then Parliament will be suspended for another 10 days
No decisions made for over 2 months during an unprecedented Cost of Living crisis
Politics in this country HAS to change

This might help you NJ? The NHS was given a date/ week that a new batch of covid vaccines would be delivered. So the powers that be at the NHS arranged a meeting to plan the roll out of this incoming vaccine for a certain age group, then they had notification that the vaccine would not now be delivered on the date first given. Got that so far? :0)
The meeting that was planned for the roll out was put on hold because it was now none essential at this moment in time ( it was essential!!) but what's the point of having the meeting if they can't be sure when the vaccine will arrive or until they have a firm date.
So they arrange a meeting for the next, or fill that gap with a not so essential meeting. In other word's not so essential as the vaccine meeting was, and still is, but just as important. I mean they don't really want to waste that meeting time when there's many other important issues to discuss. Hope this help's? I'll leave you to pick this apart, I'm sure you will. All the above is just an example of the many issues that need planning, and to plan you need the powers that be to get round a table.
lankeela, do you have a tab labelled "bookmarks" or something similar on your computer when you use a browser?

If so, find a page that gives you news - the BBC for instance - and under the Bookmarks tab should be an option to bookmark the page you're on. If you also arrange your screen so that your bookmarked pages are listed, usually down the left side, then all you have to do is click on "BBC" each time without having to Google anything. You can bookmark other media sites you like - the Mail or Guardian, say - and do the same.

You can do it for sites you're temporarily interested in too (if you're shopping for something, for instance). You can then right-click on them and delete them when you're done.
This deserves a separate thread really but we’re witnessing the biggest rout of an army in Europe since WWII
//My dander is not up Naomi :-) //

I'm very pleased to hear it, ich.
And we are on the same side of course

I know that
Good.
//This might help you NJ?//

Thanks, but it doesn't help me in the slightest. I know the difference between "essential" and "non-essential", and I know the difference between "required now" and "required at some point in the future."
You do now, so I did help.
Pay your money and take your choice :)

on the morning of 7th July 2005, there were a number of terrorist incidents in central London. all the London boroughs were placed on high alert and all of them enacted a plan for managing the situation. A friend who was Facilities Manager for a borough that will remain nameless sent me a (redacted) copy of an email he received as part of this. it explained a number of actions he needed to take, including provision of standby power supplies, and other related actions. It also explained that the borough's gold command would be set up in the Town Hall Boardroom. so far, so good.

the email went on to explain that the Boardroom was then in use by the Council Budgeting Committee, and their meeting would be in play until 2pm, so the Gold Command would be set up once they'd finished.

"Dear Mr Terrorist. We're not ready yet, please bear with us....."

Arena, 2017 - they locked down the bomb area and let the injured die....LUCKILY Dr Daly marched in, and organised things
Lord Kerslake later commented: "when I heard this , I thought he had done exactly the wrong thing but now I can see it is exactly the correct on"
