This lovely cat was reunited with his owner who thought she'd never see him again. The rescue that found him is the one I got my shy Toby from. They do great work.

What a heartwarming tale. One lucky cat.
That's a long time to be apart - how lovely.
This type of story brings out the cynic in me.

The cat was staying in a site where loads of people were feeding him and fussing over him. If he hadn't developed health problems he would probably have been really happy living there for the rest of his life.

It had no microchip so there is no certainty that it is the same cat, although it probably is.

:-)
that's lovely news Pasta

Why cynic wolf?
The trouble with a stray cat being fed by all and sundry is that when they do develop health issues, no one takes responsibility.
I've seen cases where cats are developing festering wounds or other conditions that would eventually kill them, but thankfully someone contacted the rescue. They then get not only needed medical treatment, but get neutered and a home.
In the long run if the cat is happier with all the home comforts then it is a good outcome.

But not all cats want homes, our local Cats Protection look after feral colonies and they feel that, for those Cats, it is the best situation.

Down here, most feral cats are rehomed to farms...there are plenty of them. Feral kittens, caught soon enough, soon adapt to home life. At least with neutering reproduction is nipped in the bud...;)
