Has anyone washed their sheepskin rug in the washing machine to save time in taking it to the laundrette? if so how did it wash???????

Should imagine the rug itself will be ok as long as if the temp's not too high.

However........I would be concerned about the weight of the thing when wet- can your washer handle it?
We always washed ours on a cool wash and tumbled it no probs.
Hi gretna, I did the same as Ratter but also put in some softener and it was fine. Ps I'm being nosey but do you live in Gretna? Cheers Skylight
Yes. The correct care advice is:

Don't use detergent, use soap flakes
Cool wash
Can be spun
Don't tumble dry
Allow to dry off naturally
Comb/brush gently to fluff up

As well as the above, I've personally found that:
Hair shampoo works well as a cleaner
Hair conditioner is the best 'fabric conditioner' to use - helps with the tangling
