Yes, done that. Finished now.
//St Thomas Aquinas was a superstitious nincompoop.//

Ah, quelle finesse, quelle éloquence!
//What/who Is God To You?//
Whose God?
The Christian God? The Muslim God?
Or maybe the Aztec God or the Babylonian God?
Which God (out of many thousands) are we talking about?
Might help if we had a starting point...
Are we talking about monotheistic cultures? or are we talking about Polytheistic cultures?
Are we talking about Theism or Pantheism?
The list goes on...(cant be bothered to go on)

God to me is just a word nowadays, it means jack without a definition.

//Forget the church.
Just use your brain//

I did just that and became an atheist ;-)
It's nothing to do with churches, nailit. God gets you and then you decide whether or not you accept a church. I had my atheist phase for a good many years, I assure you, and a church had nothing to do with my decision to accept Christ. Gosh that sounds po-faced, it's not, honestly - it just happened. Then I looked for a way of living it and that included church for me. It doesn't have to - many people don't need a church to belong to and that's just fine. :)
Whatever works for you... my gran was strongly Christian and did her best with me, Sunday school, churches etc, but even as a small child, I could see it didn't make sense. It's a choice, for those who need it, but nobody had ever given a convincing reason, in spite of trying for at least two thousand years.
Blunt but appropriate, khandro.
