No, I would have thought Ieuan.
It does seem a bit silly (& wrong) to call him Mr. The proper term would be Master (for which there is no abbreviation) but is rarely used these days. Perhaps having established that he is young they should then just refer to him by his first name. But it's not such a big deal.

As long as the young man was properly trained in the correct use of and, most importantly, didn't run with scissors then I can't see any issue at all Mr Donnelly.

Honorific envy can be very corrosive.
Clearly an error; but article writers with little understanding of English are employed these days. And unobservant editors too. Wouldn't fret about it; it's a sign of the times. The standard of English is falling through the floor, and many happy to support that.
