Reading that other thread about smowball's son going to Amsterdam , to lose is innocence , made me think about this

I'm always amazed by the number of planes in the skies at anyone one moment .

Whaddyagoandothatfor! Now I want to go. A lot.

It even has it's own app!!!
Aw, sorry. I know. Me too ;o(
It's finding out about things like that which make my life seem very mundane. Ah well, there's always the pub and Flight-Radar.
I did go to the British GP last weekend tho.
Just whispering in that I also spend a lot of time on flightradar and am always showing others that amazing mass of yellow when you zoom out.
Probably already posted but interesting for an hour when you nothing better else to do!!

What other information can you get on Flightradar , apart from just a map showing planes and do you have to sign up to something to get the full benefit ?
Baz,

if you click on a plane it brings up a picture of the type (if not the actual) of plane and where it's going from / to.

I often crank-up my ipad in the airport to see whether the inbound flight is on time (especially when going home).
But yes, it will do all sorts of other things if you buy the non advert version.

Thanks

How was the British GP , by the way ?

I recorded it and have made about three attempts to watch it , each time falling asleep .
Only because i've started watching it late at night ( I'm a F1 fan )

I'll put it on earlier over the weekend and finally watch all of the race

If you click on a plane apart from type and journey it also shows current height, airspeed and how many kms it's gone/got to go plus scheduled and expected take-off/arrival. I only have the free version but use a blocker.
It was very good, Baz, We were there for Fri / Sat / Sun. The F2 race was great (British winner coming from behind - Jonathan Aitken).

We sat in the pit straight to watch Practise, which was very exciting. Unfortunately it is about £800 to sit there on race day and we couldn't 'thoil' it (as we say in Yorkshire).
You can watch me flutter home (hopefully) on Tuesday afternoon :)

Tell us which window seat you'll be in and give us a wave
Willdo Baz :)
You can also ( on Flightradar) click on the a/c and it will show you all the other sectors it has flown in the last week. I think you have to pay to join some sort of premium service if you want more historical info (if that sort of thing floats your boat)

I love that link, Bazille. More time wasting viewing. Thanks. :-)
if you could see the vertical separation, it doesn't look half as scary.

same with the ships, I expect.
