Last night, I dreamed of Nippon....
I saw a cloud of white
England before the sunset
Having thrashed New Zealand outta sight.
Beyond the wide Pacific
I saw its mounded blue snow
Miraculously changing
In that a hazy Scottish drunken glow,
To sheep-infested rifts and hillocks,
To Monmouth orchards that I knew,
The head full of Brains and Asahi,
The new Welsh bamboo.
I saw, six Liffey bridges,
In green and orange gleams,
The lanterns of Irish fishers,
Along the brook of Guinness dreams.
I saw the wreaths of incense
Like French ghosts arise,
From pitches under Fuji,
From Fuji to the skies.
I saw that Rugby mountain....
I watched it form and fade.
No doubt the RU gods were singing,
When the Nippon Word Cup was played.
