Im sorry to hear of your friend. Blood cancer is devastating and any infection deemed minor (even a cold) for a "normal" person can often end the life of someone with blood cancer. Im so sad for your friend and their family too.
We know this as my husband is fighting Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He's winning but many others are not and desperately need a stem cell match!
Please will you each consider joining the stem cell registry -
it is a gift of LIFE you can easily give whilst you yourself are still alive. it involves registering online (free) posting off a cheek swab kit (free)
I can give lots of details but really the site
https://www.dkms.org.uk/en(UK) or dkms.org (usa) give the info far clearer than I ever could.
Most countries have a registry but not many people know about it. You are not automatically on the registry if you give blood etc so please ASK to join stem cell registry.
