I am on Telewest broadband.

I bought my laptop 12 months ago - it came wifi enabled so that was fine.

I also bought a Linksys router - plugged modem into router, followed the instructions and was up and running within 20 minutes, no problems whatsoever.

My router and modem are in the loft, along with my desktop and my laptop can easily connect all over the house and down the bottom of the garden and beyond.
Glad I looked in. I'm with NTL and was thinking of getting a router for my laptop. The cable from STB to PC is cluttering the floor up. I was thinking I would have to get one from NTL,but thanks to Ethel's information,it would seem not. Your a gem
I don't know if they work from set top boxes! Sorry.

They probably do, but I have a seperate blueyonder modem.

I didn't have digital tv when I went broadband. Best to check.
I too am on Telewest BroadBand(Blueyonder), and run 2 laptops wirelessly via a Linksys wireless Broadband Router. As Ethel said no probs setting up or running.
Great Product.
I know several colleagues who have opted for other Routers and have experienced connection problems.
