Hi all, lately I'm struggling with reality. For example, I'll be asleep and hear the doorbell, run downstairs to find no one is there. This morning I searched for a text message that I was convinced was sent, to find nothing there...i checked messenger, facebook too , etc. I've never been like this but have been through a period of stress and anxiety. I'm on a mild dose on citalopram (10 mg, the lowest i believe). as anyone been through this? Any advice that can be given?

Sounds like your mind is in overdrive, I am on Citalopram and do get very vivid dream indeed - I have learnt to ignore any vestiges they leave on waking.

If it's troubling you, have a word with GP.

Take care.x

Mamyalynne, thankyou. I have been through quite a lot in the past year so I understand that my head isn't quite were it should be! I will try to ignore thing yet they feel so real!
I understand , we have to learn coping strategies to get us through , good luck and keep chatting.

Off now, Night.x
Citalopram takes a good few weeks to "bed in" but if you're sleeping well, that's one good thing.

I had too much nausea and insomnia with Citalopram, before realising that they weren't helping anyway.

Speak to your GP if you continue to feel troubled.
Is it always (or mostly) just before or after sleep? Hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations are not uncommon, especially in times of stress and anxiety. They can feel very real.
Citalopram does not work for everyone. I was on them for about 6 months for depression and anxiety and my body did not take to them at all. Weird dreams, slight dizziness/empty headedness, grinding my teeth. Things got so bad i was nearly climbing the walls so my doc changed the medication and i'm a lot better for it. You don't say how long you've been taking the Citalopram but I suggest you ask your doctor about prescribing an alternative.
You're DEFINITELY not alone, AlwaysConfused.

I've shot out of Bed at the sound of the Doorbell, and got downstairs to find there's no-one there. Just this morning, I woke to the sound of my Alarm Clock at 06:32, despite the fact it's set to go off at eight. And I'm not currently taking medication! Maybe I should start.....
Happens to me too. Text mesages ,door bell, alarm on clock which is never set to go off. Crazy. I am not on any medication. Sleep well . Do have excitement of Grandaughters wedding but that's not until early June . Coming up to 78 but fit and active . Just hate this thing of being woken up,for nothing . Thought it was just me Obviously not . Weird .
