I have been told that hen pheasants can sometimes change into **** pheasants - is this true and why or how does it happen?
Also, does anyone know a good site with info on pheasants - most of my searches come up with american based sites but I am looking for a UK one.

For info on pheasants, you could start off with this site
Dispite some authorative appearing websites claiming this is possible, it has never been authenticated.

The myth may have arisen from young birds (which resemble the hen in plumage) being hatched very late in the season and so not changing into their adult plumage until the following year.
