Etiquette requires that you wait until after breakfast before opening your Christmas presents. Anything else is just SO vulgar:

If you allow your children to open their presents too early, they'll probably grow up with some really appalling habits, such as cutting the nose off the cheese. (Gasp!)

We used to have our stocking when we woke up. All other presents were after church and breakfast. It is just OH and I now, we tend to buy something we want. and not bother wrapping it.

Your family were obviously Tatler readers, Marval ;-)

I've only got one big prezzie to open, although it will probably have lots of separately-wrapped items inside it. (There were 10 last year). I tend to leave opening it until Boxing Day, so that I've still got something to do when all of the hype is over, but I might tackle it around lunchtime tomorrow if I'm getting bored.
That is the routine now. When I was a teenager it was when my Mum dragged me out of bed as I would have been out partying until late the night before.

As a very small child my parents were woken by the sound of oohs and ash coming from the living room and found me surrounded by presents and wrapping paper.

>>> a St Julien 2000

Premier Cru, I hope, DTC! (Château Lagrange?)

I thought the law was that children open stocking presents (from santa) at around 3:45am, on your bed, while you have matchstick keeping your eyes open and s mug of extra strong coffee....
We do that first, then the presents between ourselves after a dog walk and more coffee... and then go to my mum's late morning. The children go to their dad's Boxing Day for a couple of days and do it all again. Going to work in a mo... hope you all have a good time xxx

You're never too old to party, EC!

Just ask, Gness ;-)

That sounds like a good arrangement for letting you recover, Pixie ;-)

I hope work goes well. Merry Christmas!
Tonyav, no cannot wait. But hate waking up to all the mess of torn wrapping paper!
Shove the wrapping paper into a Black bin bag when you open your pressies, Sharon.
Wow ........Tony sounds tidy and organised....or is it that he's seen what MrsAV does....... ;-)
or is it that he's seen what MrsAV does....... ;-)

Doh
Tonyav, we are caught up in the moment and the last thing on my mind is black bin bags! But hey, tonight I will be more organised and scrunched it all up!
