Xmas On Your Own

Anyone here spend xmas on their own through choice?
Ive spent the last few xmas days at one of my sisters along with my mum and son. Previous to this my xmas's were spent with my (now) ex, her son, my son and assorted family members and friends. I know that I'm fortunate enough to have somewhere to go on xmas day, espescially since the rest of my family...inc my other sister...don't even talk to me. But somehow it all seems a bit trite. That's not to say that I'm not grateful, I am. But seriously just wanting to spend the day alone. My son usually just bu66ers off down his mates after dinner anyway.
Is it wrong to want to spend the day alone when you're fortunate enough to have an invite for the day?
Feel like I'm been ungrateful to the one family member (apart from my son and mum) that still speaks to me...

The last few years I had xmas with some close family.
Last xmas I had with my sister when my other sister and her side of the family don't even speak to me now.
This year?
Really? Who gives a flying f?

well i hate Xmas with a vengence as a kid it was awful [except for my nana ]can't stand all that false friendship and rubbish like that ,as an adult had to work so hard up until xmas eve was always knackered on xmas day,as a older adult had to work xmas dinner in a hotel so never enjoyed that, now as a even older adult my wife *** off to her mothers for ten days over xmas so I can enjoy it all by myself and it's better than mixing with relatives and deadbeats
Nailit....I am on my own as well.
I go to my brothers for Xmas Day lunch, which I look forward every year.....my sister-in-law is a good old-fashioned cook....(no virgin olive oil or mangetou in her kitchen ! )
I only stay about 2-3 hours and then come home. Its nice to see my nieces and their boyfriends, and exchange presents. Its a round trip of 60 miles, and I can't really have more than a very small glass of wine. So its nice to get home and open that bottle of champagne that always have on Xmas Night !
But I am a firm believer that nobody should spend Xmas Day on their own. I have seen too many older men making a brave show of it over the years.

I have spent a couple of Christmases on my own over the last 10 years or so, when Mrs B. wanted to see Family from her first Marriage, no problem at all, good food, drink and good entertainment system, + most importantly, one or two good dogs, you are never really alone with a dog. And did not see it as my place to deny her her previous Family.
