Hilarious, aaaargh! moment........
Little boy is well behaved but as for the girl, she has embarrassed her mother in my opinion and yet mother is laughing. An interesting interview ruined by an ill disciplined child.
Perhaps a smack?

I don't believe any child of two has clear memories of day to day things like being told how to behave in public. A two year old would barely understand what they are being told.
I have clear memories of being little but not day to day things.

The mother must have been told to ignore the girl when the interview started.
Otherwise any self respecting parent would have stopped her. When the girl went round in front of the mother she could easily of taken hold of her hand and got her to be still (relatively) easily depending on the temperament of the child.

The way I saw it, this mum does not encourage her daughter to behave in the way she has taught her son to be behave.
If she had, she would have said "Excuse me a moment ... Iris, don't climb on there please ... sorry, you were saying ..." and Iris would have stopped because she has learned to do as she is told.
The mother completely ignored her daughter, and her daughter behaved as ignored children do, by amusing herself.
I don't think the mother was embarrassed at all.
As to the appropriateness of bringing the children into the studio - that's always a difficult call, but as advised, no damage was done.

The day I made my Holy Communion - mother was taking me to get a photo done. When I was walking down the road my veil caught onto the handlebars of a big bike and ripped it all before the photo. That's a memory of being 7 but I too recall being on a big table with a consultant telling my mother I was deaf - was only 3 then. My friend's dad died when she was 10 or 11 - she can't remember dad at all.

Without wanting to get involved in the discussion regarding this interview, I think it's wrong to label as a 'child hater' someone who expects a child to behave as the circumstances dictate. I don't 'hate' childrren but as a mother and grandmother I have always expected by lot to behave properly. We recently took our 6 year old granddaughter to church and were surprised at the number of people who complimented her on sitting quietly.
