As a grandmother, I do like to take pics of her, she's a very pretty child. But is there any harm psychologically? I don't want her when she grows up mimicking this trout pout trend in the camera lense. May be I'm over thinking things? Anyone know of any studies done regards this?

It has far more to do with how easy it is to take digital photos now.
Just a few years ago if you wanted a 'selfie' or other photo you bought a film , put it in your camera and when the film was used , took it to the photo shop or chemist to get it developed. A film cost £2 or £3 for 24 pictures then it took a week and cost £5 to £6 to get it developed.
Now you can take 100s of photos on your mobile phone and send them all over the world via Facebook or Twitter and it's instant as well as free!

No doubt alba, I just want her to grow up grounded.

Exactly Eddie, I take pics, her parents take pics, technology is everywhere and instant. We don't always think though how many pics are being taken (altogether)
found this one
www.theguardian.com/media/2016/oct/08/taking-the-self-out-of-selfie-most-pictures-not-about-vanity-says-study

Haven't read it all, but seems to talk about school-age (12 or under)

Of course she'll grow up grounded, look at her family, they'll keep her safe xx

Thanks alba, I shall try finding that link. I think as grandparents/ parents, we need to be aware of 'media' and it's affects. We're naturally proud of her and want to show her pics to family and friends.
Question Author
I suppose it made me think, how would I like it?
Good families aren't always around and we have to worry about unsavoury family members and peers who can undo good work in miliseconds.

The op has every right to be worried and every right to voice her/his opinion so if it does go pear shaped he/she can say they tried their best.

Thanks for answers! Have to go out.
gawd, am having fun with trying to do links today, sorry.

Don't know the age of grand-daughter, but if you do have any doubts, stop.

On the bright side, in years to come when she looks at them with you, she'll say 'oh, do you remember when....'
which I think is lovely
has anyone done this ?

I wold say it was complete tosh however two academics are mentioned and so you could search for their academic papers or whether they just wanna be famous for 15 mins

My parents made such a song and dance about the expense of photographic film in the seventies that during 6 years of uni I took 4 photos.
When I got my first camera at the age of 12 in 1963 my Mum warned me that I had started on a very expensive hobby, but now it is all free and instant!

Alba she's turned 3 . This was the reason I started taking pics in the first place, a record for when she's older. Our generation don't have that, or very little.
Peter, reading your link, I can kind of understand to a degree taking shots of just her might give her a sense of importance, she does often say she's the queen LOL! She has taken videos and shots of herself pulling different faces, though not preening. I can't ever imagine taking pics will ever make her feeling self conscious, she just isn't, she's a very confident child.
Eddie, yes as I said earlier, our generation have little photographic documentation which is a shame really.
