Following comments on Loose Women by Gloria Hunniford about Ched Evans, ITV have issued an apology - and Ms. Hunniford is reported to be incandescent with rage, although ITV deny this.

Personally, I think ITV were wrong to apologise - what does anyone else think?

I Must keep up. I thought GH had made the statement recently since he was found not guilty .
ummmm, //She responded when he was found guilty!!!//

She responded on Monday - after he had been found not guilty. You said on the other thread that you had watched the programme.

I thought I was going dolally, my reply stands .
Ummm – “She was too drunk to consent. Doesn't make her a bad person. I suppose, in the eyes of the law, it doesn't make him a rapist, now”.
Why the ‘suppose’?
Ched Evans is not a rapist – I know some people revelled when he was convicted, and at that point he was a rapist, but now, beyond any reasonable doubt, he is not a rapist. There’s no ‘suppose’ about it, so I wish people would just accept this fact.
He has been exonerated. Somebody in a thread last week said him being found not guilty does not mean he had been exonerated. They were completely wrong, couldn’t have been more wrong – being found not guilty is an exoneration.
As far as the question is concerned, if she has misrepresented the case in light of the exoneration, then yes, she should apologise…..but really there’s no point as she won’t mean it, and I would hope Ched Evans and his family rise above the ignorant ramblings of somebody on a programme as absurd (and, dare I say it, misandrist) programme like Loose Women.
// I agree. ITV were wrong to apologise. Gloria Hunniford should have made her own apologies.//

I dont agree
ITV were right to apologise as they pay for Gory Glorie's mis-statements
as she is employed by them and so they have duties ( vicarious liability and all that jazz )

Chazz as we have endlessly rehearsed on AB was found not guilty and so is not guilty of any criminal offence. He has admitted the moral blame

and yeah you know we all have to obey the law ....

Lord McAlpine took £50k or was it £150k ? off sally bercow ( silly girl ) when she tweeted that he was a child molester - oops !
