I am looking after my son's dog a small Labrador. He is very thin, you can count his ribs. A healthy appetite , but within an hour or less of eating he starts pooing repeatedly, small amounts at a time but lots of them, 21 so far this morning! My son says it just shows what a healthy digestive system he has and says he has always been like it, but I think there is something wrong. Any ideas?

That dog needs a vet ASAP!
Eddie can you please please tell us the result of the dog's visit to the vet?

Time for an update EDDIE

He is a lot better, still poos more than most dogs, but I think it was the journey over here that upset his tummy. He gets car sick and it takes a while to get over it. Asked my son about it and he says he has been to the vet and he says it is OK. But it is a lot better only 4 or 5 poos a day , which I can cope with.
Thanks for the update EDDIE.
Looking at the situation and taking all you have said into account, the dog's weight, ribs showing, and all the pooing I would be very unhappy to leave him like this and would be seeking another opinion.

I'll have another talk about it to my son when he comes back from holiday on Sunday, but he insists the vet has seen him and he is happy with the dogs weight. I may be a reading a bit too much into it due to my Labrador being so much bigger, just not used to seeing a thin dog. He has always been thin though ever since my son got him, so it's not a new thing, just seeing the two of them together makes the difference obvious. He is happy and very lively so there can't be too much wrong.
not disbelieving your son but
"My son says it just shows what a healthy digestive system he has”
I mean this politely but are you SURE that the dog has seen the vet?
And 4 or 5 poos a day is stiil too much!
Sorry but I would not be waiting till your son came home - that dog would be down the vets. The dogs wellbeing is more important than your son's umbrage at you taking his pet to the vet!
agree with Jammy, 4 or 5 times a day is far too much.
If your lab poo'ed that number of times Eddiie, wouldn't you have taken them to the vet?

please, please, please take the pooch, sooner rather than later
