I barely use MS Office but it's great to have them around when I need them. Thanks for saving me £79 per year (or £20-30 per useage, to be realistic).

I hate the whole idea of subscription software, because I only want to use some of them a few times per year.

It does better if you do a custom install and pick your way through the various options. It doesnt update drivers well particularly printers so you might need to do a few manual updates but its been solid for me and the forty or so people I`ve physically helped with the changeover.
Hypognosis, why not try the free alternatives such as Libre Office? That will save you a fortune when you come to either upgrade your OS or buy a new machine. You can open Office documents and save your documents in the Office formats so there should be no problems with compatibility when working with other people.

the dam thing just came up with a box asking me to schedule the "upgrade" - could not get shot of it at all. I have now download the GWX control panel and zapped it, that seemed to get shot of it ok.
Microsoft is being persistent and is endeavouring to force all W7 & W8/8.1 users to convert to Windows 10.

The firm is on a loser so far as I am concerned because, whilst I keep getting messages on my Laptop to select an up-date option ( now or later), I merely click the X button and forget it. At the moment I am posting via my Desktop which is loaded with Vista and is good for a few more years ; by which time (if I'm still alive) will require a replacement.
Consequently, I am ignoring Microsoft and waiting to see what further pressures are put upon me..

Hans.pressure is put upon me.
Windows 10 installed itself overnight last week without so much as a by-your-leave. Have had problems - Chrome now doesn't work (but Firefox does). Also Netflix doesn't work properly. I had 7, which I was quite happy with - can't see that 10 is any improvement.
Re Chrome browser - load Chrome; click on the 3 bars top right; go down to "Help", click on it. New page will load and will automatically update Chrome.
(It did it for me!)
^ omitted - after help, click "about Google Chrome"
