been passing by this one for no particular reason, if you're swapping like for like then no probs at all. it's only when you try fitting any other make of head unit that it gets a bit technical, but it's not a major hassle.

      thank you very much.
This is a question not an answer! I new around here! Im tring to change the radio in my Ka and cannot remove the unit, i have the special clip things but it wont budge. Im not your typical Ka driver , a girl! im 6ft and go to the gym 3 times a week, i must be missing something, pls help.

hi , If you are using the right tools, 2 off U shaped then it should be straight forward. I made mine out of a gas welding rod and the radio popped out. Are you pushing the tools at the same time into the 4 small holes in the facia panel? if you are then the radio unit and built in facia should spring forward.

Good luck

thanks for reply, i pushed the special clips in and have tried to pull them along with the unit out, are you saying that pushing them in releases the unit?

Hi, sorry for delay in replying.

Yes to your question.I have removed several of these ford radio / cassette/ cd players over the years and I never bought the proper tool. Just push in the tools at the same time and under the correct amount of pressure the player should just spring out . I your case maybe the mechanism has jammed, is this the first time its been removed? maybe someone didnt replace it properly last time.

Yeah its out now, I didnt put the pins in! but was asked to pull it out, i think that they were inserted too far and it locked the spring strips and unit in, it ended up having to use screw drivers thro the loop of the pins and pulling V hard. But now its out how do you securly fit the new cage into the large space left by the old unit.

Cheers

Depends on what you are fitting in its place. when I removed my ford ka cassette/radio with built in facia I replaced it with a ford cd player with a matching colour facia ( silver) that I purchased on e bay.If you are fitting a standard cd/radio and you need to fill in the "space" then go to a ford dealer and buy a suitable ka cowl that is the same shape but with a smaller slot in the centre that will accept a standard c/ radio. This cowl should fit in the same as the one you've just taken out , however the electrical connectors may well be different whereas the ford cd/radio has the same electrical connectors.

Yeah jm1 ive got the new normal size facia piece, butthe nu JVC cage that the player sits in is about 45mm high whilst the hole left by the old unit is about twice the size, so the only way i can see to fix the cage is bend a couple of tiny tinney tabs over, but his dosent really secure the unit, on my old toyota the unit was held in by 4X 6mm allen screws, ie you pull the bulkhead out b4 the player!

thanks again
