Changing my car on Tuesday.
What do I need to do about car insurance and road tax on my old car, I know I must inform insurance about new one, but will I get a refund on the insurance? New one is only £20.
Also road tax, isn't there a new law? Not sure at all.
Any help would be appreciated, can't ask Mr F any more.

Your Insurance Company will calculate the new premium and you will just have to pay any difference/receive refund between the new and old. When your old car has been sold send off the form to DVLA and they will refund any outstanding full months left on your car tax.
Ferlew, scroll down (on the link ) to where it say's 'What to your road tax when you sell your car'

Thanks for the link Tonyav, will have a good read. :)
The only thing I can add to you Q Ferlew, If it's a new 2nd hand car, make sure you get it thoroughly checked before you take it away from their premises, after thought is no good.

TWR, not sure what you mean by 'new second hand,' it's a 15 plate, and has 12 miles only on the clock. But thanks for the heads up :)
A person that byes another car is new to the byer Ferlew, cars that have 12 miles on the clock can still have Dents / Scratches / Tyre Cuts / It's worth checking.

With it now, thank you TWR :)

Thanks all, Insurance sorted out, just had £9 to pay, and I suppose (as per tonyav's link) sometime in the new year I will be getting a little rebate re my road tax which will be nice.
New car and I are now getting to know each other, never seem so many buttons, pads and dials.
You'll soon get used to it, ferlew. Happy motoring.
car insurance is just a phone call change of details and probably a small additional charge - buy a road tax for your new vehicle and you will get a proportion of your old one refunded but you must make sure your old documentation gets sent ok to dvla
