Haven't seen your earlier thread Alan, but how long have you had the laptop, and do you have valuable files on it?
I ask this because the easiest way for you to get the lappie back is to do what's called a 'system restore' - I found that was the only way I could get rid of Chromium.
However system restore will mean you lose any files stored on the laptop. You should find the option somewhere under the system settings menu.

Bought it jan 2013 only started using it recently. No important files mosaic
As Mosaic suggested, you could try restoring your system to an earlier system state before the problem started. For instructions on how to perform a restore point, see:-

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/restore-from-a-restore-point-in-windows-8.html

Note that the restore method shown above will only restore system files system files and leave your document files etc intact.
If you post the make and model of your laptop with the operating system someone may be able to guid you through the system restore
If you click the 3-bar symbol at the top-right of the Chrome screen you will get into the "settings" menu.
Down there you will find instructions to set which search engine you wish to use - google,co.uk.
If you've no important stuff I'd recommend going straight for system restore.

Im currently(hopefully) installing avg should i wait for that before system restore and will that rid the virus and speed things up
Download the free version if Malwarebytes.

If you can't get it to run the start the computer in safemode and try that.

Let it clear anything it finds. I would then suggest turning off system restore before you restart - some nasties reinstall themselves from system restore.

After you restart, scan again. Only when clear after a restart do you then turn back on system restore.

Then run a virus scan.

Tuvok sky said avg and malwarebytes were the same similar also if i do a system restore will it bring back annoying adverts from packard bell saying i need this that and the other

I always think of System Restore as the last thing to do if all else fails, because it can sometimes require a lot of Up-dates to be installed to put everything back in order and sometimes confuses the Operating System.

Personally, I would click open the Computer Panel and then click Programmes and Features; from the list of installed programmes, find Chromium and uninstall it.

By all means then install AVG and Malwarebytes and do scans with both of them; which should clear-up your problems. Perhaps then you should install what I consider is the best of Browsers.....Firefox.

Just paid £30 to fix it and also put windows 7 as i hate 8. A friend recommended advant which ive installed is my computer now protected from porn and football streaming now? Is there any other programs i can install to stop it happening again?
Advast is an IT Business Consultant Agency. I guess you meant to say 'Avast' which is a Browser and, although Not the best, it is in the top 10 :-

What Virus Protection programme have you installed.?

Hans.
Avant is a browser and Avast is an Anti Virus program
^^^^ Ignore my last posting because I am now confusing myself.

Avast is a reputable Virus Protection Programme and I am assuming that is now installed in your Laptop.
