So many people in similar positions spend their efforts looking up the ladder for advancement while failing to support the staff below them.

I think the figure of £600000 is misleading as most of it is her pension to which they argue she's contractually entitled, although as she'd only got 10 years' service that seems rather generous to me.
I agree it feels wrong. But unless there are very strong grounds for dismissing her it's an easy way out and may be a less expensive way than taking it though court cases

Is the UK getting out of hand with" Claim Claim Claim, PPI, the company I used to work for had very old Artic Units ( the front end) the noise that came from the engine was very loud but that's the way things were with the Trucks at that time, you either drove them or the dole, that was many years ago, there re Company's trying to contact you now for loss of hearing, is the Claim culture getting out of hand?

I agree with what you say, TVR, but you are getting a bit off the point.

This hard working public servant didn't make any sort of claim - she just sat tight in her job until the council had to pay her off.

At least she hasn't just moved to another council to protect kids (doing the same job they failed to do in Rotherham)...like some of her colleagues.
