From Waterloo Rail Station I need to get to an address opposite the Natural History Museum(SW7 5JB)...

Being at my destination by 09:00 on a Thursday.

Only route I can go is by taxi, so wondering how much it will cost and how long it should take at that time in the morning....?

Many Thanks,

Sy

The AA route finder gives the journey as 3.9 miles, taking around 15 minutes, but I'd want to allow closer to half an hour in the morning rush hour.

According to the Transport for London website, a 4 mile, 30 minute journey will cost around £19:

PS: Why can't you take the Underground? It's just one stop on the Jubilee Line (northbound) to Westminster, then 4 stops on either of the westbound lines (Circle or District) to South Kensington. From there simply follow the 'Museums' signs.
Maybe the poster has mobility problems (or is a complete idiot on the underground - like me?)?

The Underground at Waterloo at 8:30 is pretty grim.

I don't like the underground either unless I have clear directions - using Chris' I would be fine. Only thing I would add, is when following the museum signs, be aware you don't come out onto the street but walk in tunnels until you reach the museum and it is stairs to do so

If you do go by bus, buy tickets before you board as they are a lot cheaper (no return tickets on London buses)

Thank u for all feedback thats great, so taxi will be somewhere around £20, and if I give it an hour that will be more than enough time.

Thanks again Sy....

ps - had enough of underground / buses before, especially at that time of the day.... it's not me paying for it and dosent matter how long it takes to get there... thats all.
Checked with friend who gets cab at Waterloo mainline every morning. Expect to wait 10-15 mins to get cab (longer if it's raining) and at least 30-40 mins for the journey. See you're going to allow an hour, so that should be fine. Good luck.
You will get a taxi much more quickly if you go down onto Waterloo Road (by Jubilee Line) and hail one off the street

Thanks again... Sy
being a Londoner I think that the underground or even buses in the rush hour can be very daunting for someone not used to the area and very stressful too, a taxi is by far the better option takes all the stress out of the journey, but allow time for the taxi queue at Waterloo.
