i have two old primus(optimus) stoves that i use regularly, i light them using small pieces of firelighter. This causes loads of soot, can any one suggest another method? i used them at school camp in the 70's and we used META FUEL which was little tabletty blocks that were also used as slug pellets? i can't get them anywhere, i would prefer not to use a liquid. cheers

It's not exactly DDT but it's not  the sort of thing  you want around a stove if you use it for cooking or making tea.
