There could have been two men hiding behind these veils. I and at least 70% of the voting public in this country are sick to the back teeth of seeing and hearing about these women {or men} wearing these macabre habits. They should be banned in the Western World.

I've seen it happen.
From what I can see from the video, the passengers are at the boarding gate. Security checks would have been done beforehand. At the boarding gate, only the flight number and date need to be checked. Faces and identities are tied up before hand
I just adore the fact the 2nd picture felt it necessary to put a ruddy great big arrow on it- priceless!
I agree with 237SJ. You can't get all the way to the plane without having being x-rayed and identified! Would I get on the plane? Id still get on a bus train or ship if they were there. The 7-11 and the sep 11 bombers never head their faces covered did they?
Forgive me if I missed the mass hysteria on this one seeing as I tend to holiday in Scotland. however, there is absolutely NO evidence that previous terrorist attacks have been carried out by "veiled" people. Indeed, as far as I am aware previous attacks have been carried out by determined individuals who don't actually care who sees their face given that their intention is to die with the rest of the passengers. A determined terrorist will be able to get a fake passport and board a plane - irrespective of whether anyone gets to see his face or not.

Why would any "terrorist" take the risk of being checked by security, arrested and their plot failed forever? They wouldn't. Their best form of disguise is in appearing completely normal............
I have seen veiled women being taken aside at the FIRST security check - the one where you show your ticket and passport and before you put your stuff through the belt - and being taken to a secure area where they have had to show their faces to a woman security person before being allowed to go any further. We don't know this didn't happen this time - if they have been vetted once and allowed to keep their boarding cards, then who is to stop them going through a second check before they get on the plane?
If I am right and this is was filmed at the boarding gate, then sorry the story is complete bo**ocks. Scaremongering by the daily mail as usual. Passengers` are identified at check in, again at security. There is absolutely no risk to an aircraft because someone is following their cultural beliefs and wearing a veil when they step on an that aircraft.
At the moment I want a holiday so much that I would board a plane even if I saw Wile.E.Coyote carrying a big Acme box getting on in front of me.
I must apologise for my comment "appearing completely normal". Fingers working without the back up of brain. What I meant was, given the current hysteria about the burka, your average terrorist is not going to try and draw attention to himself by wearing one. I was not trying to suggest that women who wear burkas are not normal because to them it is quite normal and acceptable and the path they choose.

I'll shut up now and go and drink some wine.
Here's another aspect of the story from across the pond.

They'd have to show their faces at some point so yes.
All the air crew are just as much at risk as being blown to smithereens as the passengers. I am sure they are as confident as they can be about the safety of the flight, including all the passengers.
..and the answer to trt's OP is yes, I can, I would, and I have, it's hard to board a Saudi Airlines plane without at least one of the passengers being dressed like that.
Stewey's post (thanks stewey) is no better than the DM in clarifying which gate they are talking about. It sounds - as 237SJ says - like more scaremongering to me.
Mooly, read the first paragraph in the link that I posted.

"A veteran airline worker at Canada’s busiest airport said few veiled Muslim women are forced to reveal their faces before boarding flights."
...in his opinion? Does he see the women from the check-in gate right through to boarding the plane? This seems so highly unlikely, based on my experiences at airports in the UK.
me too, boxtops, I've been on planes with veiled women, without screaming, panicking or demanding that everyone be arrested. I must be awfully brave, don't you think?
Jno - you and me both, and with a rucksack.
If I'd paid good money for the ticket then I can't imagine I'd get off the plane because I couldn't see someones face.
