Westpac is here:

You can't work in Oz unless you're either under 31 and travelling on a working holiday visa
http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holida y/417/how-to-apply.htm
or you can meet the requirements of 'points test' for skilled workers who're in short supply. See here

As Chris said you will need a visa to work in Australia. In addition to a visa you will also need plumbing credentials to take employment from plumbing companies. Australia is quite strict when it comes to tradesmen having the correct certifications etc. How does Westpac relate to your work as a plumber?

When I was in Oz I used Westpac as my bank. Be warned though all banks in Oz have add on charges like for taking money out of an ATM or having paper statements.
My advice is to ask people on http://www.gapyear.com.
Also they charge $5 a month if you have under a certain amount in your account which didn't make any sense to me, I can't remember the amount now though think it was $1000!

Please be careful, and don't work without the relevant visa.
If caught without one,you WILL be deported, and can never return to Oz.
I learnt all this when temping for Australian High Comission, some years ago.
