Daughter returned from Tkey with horrific tales of rape in the hotel, not her fortunately! Lone women drugged and raped in hotel. Turks observed 'pawing' teenage girl in presence of parents, just to provoke reaction, (if it kicks off Turks have gang back-up). Says that the drug reprinol (?) is bought over counter along with viagra.

Rohypnol, a brand name for Gama-hydroxybutric acid. I hear this over the counter stuff goes on in parts of Mexico also.
Sounds like a pretty horrible place.
If someone pawed my daughter in my company they'd need a pretty big gang.

whoah.
lets put the rope away, lynch mob.
I feel for the lady who was raped, I really do, but lets look at the bigger picture.
Thousands of brits go to Turkey on hols each year, and there's as much cance, if not more, of being attacked in Ibiza when drunk, drugged as there is in Turkey.
I know many people who holiday their each year without problems.
knee-jerk reactions and brandishing everyone the same doesn't work

My friend went to a business meeting in a Warwickshire hotel a few months ago.
During lunch someone went into the room where the meeting was and stole laptops and credit cards etc.
Does this mean that all hotels in the UK should be avoided?
(making a similar point to munchie63, but just reinforcing it)

My friend goes regularly to Turkey and has never seen anything like what you are describing. There's no go areas in every country including the UK. Don't tar the whole country because of one bad area.

Hang on, where does the information regarding rape being acceptable under Islam come from ? Is it from the same source that says Jews eat non-Jewish children and all western women go around supposedly begging for it ? Please be a bit more discerning as to what you believe and even more so as to what you assert.

Everyone I met in Turkey was very friendly and not just in the 'be nice to the tourist' way. I know families that go back year on year on year.
No doubt in a few areas there are bad uns but I would love to go again.

I have been travelling to various parts of Turkey regularly for over 35 years and have always found the locals friendly and hospitable. You are probably at less risk of a dangerous situation there than in parts of the UK currently. There have been some terrible rapes & murders of young women in the UK - should people stop coming here?

If you are going to book a hotel in the ghetto then what do you expect? Turkey is a beautiful country.

i have been to turkey 3 times and have never had any problems or seen any. in my opinion these days you can walk to your local shop and be mugged or raped along the way so it is not just turkey that it happens
