We went to Vietnam and we were recommended Malarone (malaria pill). But in different regions they recommend different pills.
It cost us 10.00 each for private presctription and the cheapes Malarone pills I found were on Boots website (44 pills came to around 93)
I picked up course of malaria pills at local pharmacy yesterday apparently there are different ones for depending upon where you are going so the pharmacist told me. Cant tell u name of mine as they r at home and im at work. We have to take them for 1 week before we go and 4 weeks after return. 7 week course in one packet (two different tabs in packet) cost 15.50 each person for complete course. He was very helpful and printed off list of jabs etc needed too.
Malarone tablets have to be taken only 1-2 days before departure and 7 days after arrival. We chose them because they had the least side affects.
i just took Lariun - 20 for 8 weeks worth - you just take one a week - made me a little crazy but my mate was fine....Malarone is more expensive and you take it every day...met some people that were fine on this and others who were ill every day.....its a bit of a lottery!
i meant Larium
Best way of buying malaria pills is from Sterling Health via their website as they will tell you what type of protection you need.Jabs come free from most doctors
