You never have needed one - assuming it's a UK licence you hold

If you really want one you can get one from main post offices, the AA or the RAC.

When I was there last year all I needed was my UK driving licence, the new photo one AND the green paper bit.

You don't need an international licence a UK one works fine, but make sure you don't have any points or offences pending.
