To the nearest airport to interlaken. Geneva ? To stay in a hotel for around a week. Must go on the jungfrau railway. Any ideas. Not the most expensive on offer. I want to revisit after being there on a school trip .

the nearest airport is at Bern, but the only UK flights there originate in Manchester. Zurich is further away but is better served, and is connected train to Interlaken (some through but most ch. at Zurich HBF or Bern, journey 150mn-ish). Easyjet fly from LGW, BA fly from LCY and LHR.

Thank you

The nearest airports to Interlaken are Sion and Bern, but neither has flights from the UK.

The simplest way to get there from Gatwick is to fly with easyJet to Zurich:

There are some trains which run directly from Zürich Flughafen to Interlaken Ost, typically taking around 2¼ hours.  At other times you need to change at Bern (and then possibly at Spiez as well, depending upon the particular service chosen):

For cheap, but well-reviewed accommodation, in Interlaken, consider the Hotel Tell, which can be booked through several online sites:

I went there as a14-year old with the scouts, so I can understand your addiction. I had to return to show my wife (as soon as we could afford) and later our grandsons. Consider going in summer; it's just as snowy at the Jungfraujoch and the views are just as good. It's worth buying the Bernese Oberland pass if you're there for more than a week - it gives you 5 days free transport on all the buses, boats on lakes Brienz and Interlaken, all the ski-lifts and most of the mountain railways. Unfortunately the last bit to the Jungfraujoch isn't free but you can get part way free and a discount on the final leg. The interesting bit is that all the trains, boats and buses connect with each other AND THEY RUN TO TIME.

However you choose to do it you WILL enjoy yourself bringing back all your memories.
