the ones i met in the US were not, they were mostly kind, pleasant people, much as you would find in most countries. Courteous, and welcoming.

no they are like you and me, all colours, creeds, religions, from every port and call. What they do have, and this was my experience is a belief in the idea of being an American, and its not that they are always right, if you call that self righteous up to you, i wouldn't.
