I am planning a trip to rome in late December for my 60th birthday,with 3 friends. Can anyone advise me as to the most convenient location and/or recommend hotels- not too pricey please!

I'm trying to help you Twincle, I just can't remember the name of the hotel we stayed in and I'm doing some quick research!!  :)

Got it!  HOTEL LUCE -- near Termini station.  Reasonable prices, clean room, friendly service, and delicious restaurant right on the corner of the block.
