I have a jpg file I want displayed on our Philips 42" HD- Can anyone suggest a resolution I should use. The file I tried was about 5.3mb and the TV gave me an 'unsupported format' display....

The 'file format' should have no bearing on the 'file size' (and vice versa).

I'm wondering if your TV is looking for JPEG file extension (and not JPG) - although there's no difference really.

Rename it and try again, just to rule out this option.

Thanks -will try that.....The res was 300dpi and I initially thought that might be the problem....

Just to update - I reduced the dpi to 96 and it worked! Although when I removed the USB memory stick from the TV it froze the Sky+ box which involved a few HDMI 'unplug' & re-insert to get it back!
The maximum Resolution for pics is always listed in the TV manual specifications. Check it.
My Pioneer is 1600 tops on max dimension.

The image I want to display measures 35"x17.5". DPI is related to size....
