When you "delete" a file in Windows often the actual file is not deleted, just the pointer to it.
So your files or files may still be sitting on your hard disk somewhere.
There are tools and utilities available to recover deleted files so just search on the internet for "recovering lost files" or similar.
I have never used one so cannot suggest any particular product.
