removing write protection from external hard drive

hi all

i have an external hard drive which was working fine but for some reason it now wont let me add or remove any files onto it, it comes up with the error message write protected

any idea how i can remove the write protection?

Need to know make and model of the drive to give a definitive answer. Also the version of Windows you are running.

For a start plug the drive into another computer and see if you get the same issue. If you do it's a hardware (switch etc.) or software setting on the drive that's the problem. If not then it's a setting in Windows somewhere on your PC.
