Printer gone funny - can you help?

My printer (Epson DX 4050) prints with lines missing. The effect is that letters and numbers have bits missing. Not enough to make them unrecognisable. Funny thing is that if I copy a document, it prints it fine. I have connected it to 3 computers (2 PCs and a Mac) and it's the same every time. Things went wrong after a paper jam. Tried reloading the printer software to no avail. Help?

You don't say if you have checked the cratridge(s) or tried nozzle cleaning, which are the first things. I had a similar problem the other day and had to do this. These are usually avilable from a menu in the printer software.

agree - it's either blocked nozzle - or the connector on the cartridge

do as post says first ... if not clean the contacts

if still no joy ... I have been known to cover the print head(s) with a wet tissue for a cuple or so minutes

but only as a last resort ... the cartridge will suck the moisture - and hopefully dissolve the blockage (prints could be a bit washed after)

last resort .... 90% says a new cartridge will sort it ...

Thanks guys. I did run all the checks to no avail. However, I removed the black cartridge, shook it and put it back. All is now well :-)
