Can someone explain Skype to me? How it works, how I get it etc?

My best mate has just moved to Spain and we need to keep in touch for free if possible!!

You can do a lot of things with Skype. With a microphone and headphones (or a cheap plug in usb phone thing) you can talk to other skype users anywhere in the world for free.

You can call landlines or mobiles very cheaply.

You can use it to Instant Message your online Skype contacts

You can use it with a webcam and see each other.

You can buy a phone number so other landlines or mobiles can call your Skype number, which looks like a normal phone number.

Download it and have a good look at it.
