wireless connection trouble

I have a laptpop,wifi enabled with bt inernet wireless router.The wifi is switched on.when I try to connect to the internet.Network diagnostics tells me I have a problem with Network Adapters.I then have to run repair,which brings up the message "Turn on wireless capability"Is ther any way of setting the adapters to be switched on automatically.
