Xbox3

My son's xbox when online showed 3 red lights and was told by Microsoft that he would have to pay £80 to have it looked at even though they would not say what they suspected was wrong with it. Has anyone had this experience and is it fixable without sending it away

Yes, there have been lots of failures. Try Google and 'xbox 360 failures' -

How old is it ?
If less than 1 year, then the shop may exchange it for you FOC - not sure if they are legally obliged, however.

Oh and yes it can be fixed as the problem is most commonly a dry solder joint but the solution is opening it up and using a hot air gun! not recommended.
