Is it possible for me to boot my computer straight into my Google page? I currently switch on and just let it run until I see the blank screen and the cursor (arrow) waiting! I then have to click on the IE7 image to make a connection.
How do I get past that stage??
My system is Windows Home edition SP2.

Yes it's easier than you think. Make sure Google is your homepage.

To add IE7 (or any program) to your Startup folder (that will make it work each time you start the windows and you will see it in the system tray), please follow the below instructions:

1. Click Start>Programs, then right click on Startup folder and choose Open.

2. On the Startup window, go to File menu and choose New>Shortcut.

3. In the dialog box click the Browse button to specify the location of the IE7 program in this box.(On my PC it's here - "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

4. After specifying the program path, click next and finish. Then you will see a new shortcut (computer icon) in the Startup folder.

5. Right click on that shortcut and choose Properties, select Minimized from the Run combo box, and click Ok, then close the Startup folder.

6. At the next time you start your computer the program will run automatically and you will see it in the system tray.

Restart your PC and IE7 should always start at Boot Up.

Followed you instructions to the letter and now I have IE7 sitting bottom left of my taskbar. My next step is to get the page (Web) open at Google with my favourites down the left hand side and my cursor blinking in the Google search box!!
Mabe a bit too ambitious?

Unfortunately the last two are not possible but if you go through the instructions again and instead of minimize - put maximise - in the run combo box - IE7 will be full page when you start up.

The first part is easy enough - you can then set your homepage (the page that shows when you open Internet Explorer) to Google by clicking on Tools top right of IE. Then internet options. Then type www.google.co.uk into the homepage box - click apply at the bottom right and that will set your hompepage up at Google. When you click the Home button which is on the same line as Tools to the left, it will load up Google.

Your PC will now start, IE will automatically start too and you should see Google on your screen infront of you.

Opening your favourites and putting the cursor in the box is just bloody lazy - I'd employ a small child to come in and do it for you.LOL
