My computer - C:\localdrive - Documents and Settings - there will be a file with your username on it - Application Data - Microsoft - word. there is afile here called normal.dot i assume this is the one you are looking for.
It often depends on the version of Ofiice/Word and where it was installed.

On my machine it is where snadsidney said except that it is under Microsoft then Templates.

Here's a trick (dirty way to overwrite):-

A quick way to find it (sometimes doesn't show up using search?) is to set up a page in Word that you want to be the default, then go to 'Save As', choose 'Save As Type' at the bottom of the window and choose 'Document Template'. This will show you the folder with 'Normal.dot' in it. Try to Save over the file by using the name 'Normal.dot' and it will tell you it's in use. Now close that file (don't quit Word) then go to Open and you'll now be in the Templates folder. Open up the normal.dot file and alter it to suit yourself then Save it.

Miggy21, did you manage it?
