What are you hoping to see? Binoculars are great for scanning the sky and getting used to the layout of the stars etc.
Remeber that you will need a tripod or similar to keep them steady. As well as magnifying the image that you want to see, they will also be magnifying all of your hand movements so the image will become more and more jerky, the higher the magnification.

I would like to see a bit of detail on the moon. we have a tripod ready so what would you suggest?

Would like to see as much as possible but have been told i would be better getting a good pair of binoculars rather then a telescope for a beginner
You have the binoculars (keep them handy) and now that your interest has been peeked a telescope is not out of the question.

The world's most powerful binoculars?
