What do you want, jam on it? No - joking aside - we should be thankful for Movie Maker as a start to trying Video Editing. I think you will have to pay (unless anyone knows any better) or wait until Serif makes MoviePlus 4 available for free (you might get it for 9.99 on offer?), now that MoviePlus 5 is available (looks very good and worth paying for - or get Adobe Premiere Elements or Sony Vegas Studio).
PS. Meant to say that you might get a Video Editing program on a magazine cover disc (but sometimes they are cut-down versions).
Hmm. Let's think about this. To produce a decent video-editing package might take, say, a 4-man team of talented programmers (at, say 30,000p.a. each), a couple of years work. That means a development cost of around a quarter of a million pounds and this guy wants it for FREE! What does he think we are, magicians?!

Oh, OK then.

lol i ment a basic program like windows movie maker - thats free with your comp .. thanks very much for your replys
Hi JP, I have just had the same experience as yourself I think. Moviemaker was a great start but had limitations with regard to audio channels and mixing pictures and video. Try Lets Edit 2, I was given a copy this weekend. It has 4 audio channels with better control of the sound features. It also allows you to mix stills and video much better, and has two titles on the time line. I have not had time to try it fully and it does look limited on the file types it can import which need converters (easily obtained free) but it seems to fit my need in being two steps up from Moviemaker.
Hi again JP, I notice that the date of your question is some time ago and that you have probably moved on with software, Since I am following the same track as yourself I would be interested to know what software you found usefull.
