A TV signal from an aerial and a TV card such as a Hauppauge Win/TV Go card, which I have seen for a little over 35.00

My graphics card has a tv arial socket does this have any relevence?
If your graphics card is something like an ATI "All in Wonder" then yes, it's most relevant. All you'd need to do is plug an aerial into it, then install the relevant software/drivers which if you haven't got you will most likely be able to download from the website of your card manufacturer. I used to have a Hauppauge Win TV Theatre card, but the software was so unstable under Windows ME (which i was daft enough to be using as my OS at the time) that i gave it away to a friend.
The aerial socket might just be an output to the TV and not and input as the Hauppauge and ATI cards have. A lot of them have TV out now, but very few have TV in. If all the software was installed for the card, then there might be a "watch TV" option somewhere, if you can find one then plug in an aerial and see what happens. You might still need to get a new card if you can't do this. Do you know what video card is in there ?
