Manually deleting a virus

I have a virus in a windows System 32 file. My virus scanner can't get rid of it but it doesn't tell me how to get rid of it manually.

I have a feeling I will have to get it through the REGEDIT function but don't want to delete the wrong file.

Can anyone help me? The full name of the file is :

Windows\system32\CRTV_32.DLL and the virus is W32/Downloader.DSC (which doesn't seem to come up anywhere when I search for it).

TIA xx

try booting up in safe mode and run your antivirus through that, i know ive had similar problems but im not sure if u used safe mode or ms-dos, but you could try safe mode first
you don't say what your virus software is... so either do what boink says download some other software (free) like AVG:

I have tried to search for that virus but there are many variations containing Downloader. Is that exactly how if comes up in you antivirus program?
