I don't know whether I'm watching too much TV or using the PC too much either but my eyes are beginning to get sore.Is there a way to make the background colour of white not quite so glaring on the PC? Thanks.

There is something which alters the colour of the background but I have forgotten what it's called. I had it installed but it seems to have gone. Sorry.
This might help...I've heard it's good.

That's it Pasta. Well done.
^^^I think I was the person who recommended this some time ago. I've had it for years and am still impressed with it.
Use this test card to optimise your monitor's display:

You need to be able to clearly see all of the numbers, from 0 to 10, on both of the relevant lines. If you can't follow the instructions to adjust your display.

It's also important to optimise the text display on your monitor:
Click 'Start'
Type 'cleartype' into the box.
Click on 'Adjust Cleartype Text'
Check that there's a tick shown there, enabling Cleartype.
Click 'Next' and choose the text that looks best to you.
Repeat until completed.

Thank you all for your replies.
"http://reeddesign.co.uk/testcard.htm" BC do you do any adjusting with the mouse(and how?)or do you do any alterations on the monitor itself?
^^^ In the first instance, make the adjustments on your monitor.

However some PCs have a graphics card in them which allows you to make further adjustments. Right-click on your desktop and see whether there's a 'graphics properties' option there (and, if there is, whether there's anything under 'Color Correction' [horrid US spelling!] which will help you)

I'm sorry that's a bit vague but it's all dependent upon the hardware in your particular computer.
