Our PS2 makes a huge amount of noise when playing CDROM games. I just bought the GameTrak system for Realworld Golf, an excellent game but in CDROM format , so it is spoiled by the noise. My question is why is this brand new game a CDROM, and are future GameTrak games also likely to be on CDROM - if they are I wish I hadn't bothered getting the system!

Dont wish to be the bearer of possibly bad news but my sons machine did the same thing, it turned out to be the drive bearing which was worn and  failed eventually, luckily it was still just under warranty and Sony replaced it with a "new" re-conditioned machine, suggest you keep a close eye on it.

We had an 18 month old PS2 which made the noise, and because it was starting to have other glitches, bought a brand new slimline one, which also makes the noise. I believe it's common with cdrom based games, and as most of these are rather old now I wouldn't mind. But for it happen on a newly released game is a bit irritating, can't believe thay haven't sorted this out!
