Following my earlier post about my Siemens SL55 phone, I think the problem has something to do with my Laptop.I have a wireless broadband set up at home, and if I try to ring my mobile whilst at home, I get an engaged tone, but if I am not at home,I do not get this engaged tone, and the phone works fine.I did notice that a message appeared on my laptop saying it had located my phone via infa red,but I have no idea how to stop this from happening. Is it possible to switch off the link between my laptop and my mobile?

You should be able to disable the infra red device on the laptop in device manager.  Infra red works on line of sight so hide your phone under a cushion or even better put it in another room.  If it still doesn't work the problem lies elsewhere.

Kerplunk, thanks for you answer.I have disables the infra on my phone and my laptop, but I still get an engagedtone. It is definately something to do with my laptop because my phone has been fine all day whilst at work, but as soon as I get home, the engaged signal returns. This is driving me mad! I am completely stumped as to what the problem might be.
Does the phone work with the laptop switched off?  Try taking your phone outside and trying it.  Can you ring your home phone from your mobile?
