Every so often I get a message on screen saying 'Unresponsive plugin' I usually have to close the window and start again. It often takes ages to close the window. I think I have the up to date version of flash as I updated last week. So any boffins out there to help. Could it be my computer or Broadband or something else?

Missed out computer knowledge.
If you're going to bin it, all you need to do is copy anything that you want to keep onto a memory stick or external hard drive and copy that onto your new computer. When you are happy that that has been done, remove the hard disk from the old computer and bash it good and proper with a hammer.

I get the same; when I looked at the plugins, and finding that shockwave flash is to do with watching videos, as I do not do so, I clicked on to it to never activate automatically. Whether this solves the problem, I have yet to find out, but it does not sem to have affected anything else. Whoopee.

Hi Jeza, me again. I hope that you are still watching this thread.
I am sorry for the way that your request for help has been handled by some contributors. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that your computer is on the borderline between fixing it or ditching it.
I am more that happy to try and talk you through some possible solutions.
I know that you are running XP and that Firefox is your preferred browser.
I will need to ask more questions but don't be afraid to say that you don't understand the question, I will rephrase or break it down into simpler chunks.
If you can be patient with me, I will do the same for you.
I can not promise to resolve the problem but I'll give it a damn good try.
No one should be deprived of the Night Night thread :)
Watching for your reply...
@WyeDyed...I hope you are Not thinking that I have badly handled matters. In fact, it has suddenly dawned upon me that I did, or thought I had managed to sort-out Jeza's problem. :-

Alston - She was still having problems last night and was a little put off by some of the responses she received.
I was not suggesting that you were part of the problem but there is one I had in mind who, despite having a deep knowledge of computers, sometimes comes over as being a tad erm... impatient and short.
WD....I know what you are saying. Incidentally, I try Not to be impatient and I am far from being a tall chap.:-)

Right, that having been said ,let's see if together we can continue helping Jeza. I would hate her to bin a computer which possible has a lot more life left in it.

Come on Jeza, we are waiting to hear further from you.

Al.
It wouldn't be the first problem that we've cracked together, Alston :)
I've been busy the last couple of weeks but I am home all evening and ready when Jeza is...
